Marvin Lewis is the head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Lewis was named the ninth head coach in the Bengals history on Jan. 14, 2003.
He took over after the 2002 team had posted the worst franchise year 2wins, 14 losses. He is the only Bengals coach not to experience a losing season. In his starting year as football coach the Bengals were the NFL’s most improved team(6 game increase) and Lewis finished second in the Associated Press voting for NFL coach of the year while being named Rookie Coach of the Year by Football Digest.
Prior to his arrival he was the Washington Redskins Defensive coordinator (2002). He spent 6 seasons as defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens including a Super Bowl victory following the 2000 season. In the 2000 regular season Lewis' Baltimore Ravens defense set the NFL record for the fewest points allowed in a 16 game campaign. Lewis' 2000 defensive team has been considered as one of the best in NFL History.
