The NFL Football North Carolina Panthers invested in offense heavily in the offseason after injuries crippled them in the past 2 seasons. The Panthers rebuilt their offensive line through free agency by resigning Jordan Gross and Travelle Wharton; signing guards Milford Brown, Keydrick Vincent and Tonju Fonoti. The majority of their NFL football roster has been completely overhauled with new talent surrounding their center stage core players on offense and defense like Steve Smith and Julius Peppers. As long as Jake Delhomme, who had surgery on an injured elbow, can stay strong on the field the offense should have a phenomenal year.
Catching 16 passes for 281 yards and 4 TD's, Steve Smith started the NFL football season on fire with Jake Delhomme under center. In the next 12 NFL football games Smith started, he caught 71 passes for 721 yards and 3 TD's. Smith is much more productive with Delhomme under center.
Muhsin Muhammad signed a new 2 year contract with the Panthers in February shortly after the Chicago Bears released him after 3 seasons. Muhammed had spent his first 9 seasons with the Panthers and was the franchise's all time leader in receptions.
Jeff King TE,had a strong showing in 2007 in which he caught 46 passes for 406 yards and 2 TD's. King has plenty of value as a bye week fill-in and could be a possible sleeper.
D.J. Hackett, WR agreed to a 2 year $3.5 million dollar deal after he was guaranteed he would be #2 receiver. He provides a perfect compliment as a big target opposite the small and speedy Steve Smith.
